About The Event
This is the second visit to Abingdon for Blackheart Orchestra. Comprising two multi-instrumentalists they lay claim to being the world’s smallest orchestra. Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington play 13 instruments between them and were an astounding act to watch perform on their last visit in March 2024. The duo has released eight albums together. The music paints vast soundscapes with elements of rock, electronica, pop and even folk evoking dramatic aural imagery that captures the listener wrapping them in its spellbinding warmth. It is difficult to compare a band of such originality accurately to another, but one can hear hints of Depeche Mode, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Claanad, Tangerine Dream & Pink Floyd.
